Day 2 was just as packed as Day 1.
My mission today was to finish playing Sample Santa, delivering ribbon samples, to the quilt designers who used embellishment in their designs. Among those visited were Pieces Be With You (booth #409), Holly Hill Quilt Designs (booth #1302), Bird Brain Designs (booth #1329), and Almost Heaven Designs (booth #2010). I’ll post any pictures they send in.
At 1pm, Allison Aller gave a demonstration of hand embroidery with River Silks ribbon at our booth. She had some great tips for working with the ribbon and getting great results with simple stitches. New for this market, Allison made a crazy quilt kit “Pretty Crazy in Summer” using her “Pretty Crazy” design and our “Summer” color collection. As Allison says, it’s a great kit to introduce people to embellishing, using basic hand embroidery stitches.
Sherri McConnell, writer of the blog “A Quilting Life“, came by the booth. The blog is a wonderful resource for quilting, inspirations and projects. She is now listed in our blogroll.
Kansas Troubles Quilters (booth 1019, 21, 23) had River Silks ribbon on display on their ornament tree! Lynne Hagmeier tells her employees that she uses River Silks ribbon because it doesn’t come undone. Thanks, Lynne, for the product placement and the kind words! Contact KTQ at 785-488-2120, and tell them River Silks sent you.
Are you a quilt designer who wants to start incorporating embellishment but doesn’t know where to start? Be inspired by River Silks silk ribbon.
